I love to garden! I have been gardening since 2013 – my first garden was a plot at a community garden that I adored. It was on an old farm and the soil was superb. We moved to a house in 2015 that had a raised bed in the back yard and a built in watering system to boot! The soil is MUCH different at this house (lots of clay) and I am learning each year about the produce that seems to fair the best. When I have an abundance of produce, I like to use my dehydrator – especially for drying herbs. I keep it low and on for a while until they are dry and then I can use them the rest of the year!
My first bounty this summer was from my rhubarb, kale and chive plants. My chives and rhubarb are perennials, so they come back each year. I planted my kale from organic seed and it flourished! I cooked it up for lunch and added a drop of Young Living Parsley vitality oil. YUM! I also made a Berry Rhubarb Chia jam (just 5 ingredients – berries, rhubarb, lemon juice/zest, sweetener (honey/maple syrup) and chia seeds!) and will add the chives to my baked potato pizza I am making next week. There are many ways you can garden, so don’t let your living space stop you if you are interested!
